Mamelodi Sundowns Players and Coach Sweep the DStv Premiership Category at the PSL Awards

The Brazilians dominated the prestigious Premier Soccer League Awards ceremony for the 2022-2023 season, clinching an impressive total of seven accolades. The club’s exceptional performances throughout the season were acknowledged as their players and coach walked away with well-deserved recognition.

Among the notable winners were Khuliso Mudau, a formidable pillar in Masandawana’s’ defense as he showcased his exceptional skills throughout the season. Mudau earned the well-deserved title of Defender of the Season. Ronwen Williams was awarded Goalkeeper of the Season for consistently exhibiting his remarkable reflexes, excellent shot-stopping capabilities, and leadership skills. Williams also reached 18 clean sheets in the domestic league and broke Moeneeb Josephs’ long standing record of 17 clean sheets. The talented shot-stopper missed out on the Player of the season award which was clinched by his teammate Teboho Mokoena.

Mokoena secured both the Player of the Season and Midfielder of the Season titles after contributing to The Brazilians successful title defense. The Free State born-star played a total of 24 matches and was an invaluable asset to the team throughout the season. Cassius Mailula was named Young Player of the Season after showcasing his immense potential, consistently delivering outstanding performances and proving himself as a player to watch in the future. The 21-year-old had a blistering start in his maiden season in the top-flight, scoring nine goals, three away from the Golden Boot.

Masandawana’s Head Coach Rulani Mokwena was voted as Coach of the Season for leading Bafana Ba Style to their sixth successive league crown. Sundowns firmly established themselves as the dominant force in South African football. The club’s triumphs were a testament to the remarkable talent, hard work and dedication displayed by their players and coaching staff.

“I’m so honored and extremely privileged to stand after receiving the Coach of the Season award on behalf of the yellow nation. This award is only a reflection of the hard work and commitment of everybody that is associated with the club.”

“I want to thank you for your dedication, love, and support throughout this season, as well as for travelling with us on this journey. We go again next season, and we try to make it even better”, expressed the Masandawana Coach.

Commenting on his award nomination, Mailula expressed that winning in his category would be a testament to the backbreaking work that he has put in to be where he is and he would be more motivated to do more, he said: “I would feel amazing. I would feel great and it would boost my confidence big time. It would help me to even believe in myself more and to know that whatever it is that you’re doing and whenever you’re given a chance to play, someone is always watching you. It shows that someone can see the talent and hard work.”

Namibian international striker Peter Shalulile took home the Golden Boot, a second in a row. Shalulile’s clinical finishing, exceptional positioning and ability to find the back of the net made him a nightmare for opposing defenders throughout the season and became the first player in the history of the PSL to win the golden boot back-to-back.

My plea to our Management and I know you’ll reinforce but pls consider the striking force if you really want to conquer the Africa,We have enough middlefielders and we can dwell only on Shalulile since we know that Nassir is injury prone.I have a two cent suggestion as a concern Dawana pls sign the red hot or deadly striker by the name of Fiston Kalala Mayele of Young lions in Tanzania having that boy at our team we can easily wo the league in Dec just imagine the combo of him with Shalulile and I’m afraid the North African teams will buy him,to those Dawana supporters rhat are close with our Management pls guys tell them that not all good players are in South America and if you dont believe me just watch him on Youtube you’ll be amazed the way he scores the goals even now he’s the leading goalscorer on Confed Cup,once again sign him guys ngiyacela ngoba buhlungu if that guy goes to another team next season,Kby forever

Congratulations for winning the awards. The season is over let us plan properly for next season and sign players who are gonna propel Downs to the next level not players coach loves, like the useless and old Pule from Pirates.I watched Mayele against Maruma Gallant and again over the weekend in the 1st leg of CAF final, the boy is so special,he is deadly in front of goals,he is a good finisher,he is also got lots of assists and has a lightning pace.I would love management to break a bank for him,Mayo and Kimvuidi from Maritzberg.
