Masandawana Sweep Up At #PSLAwards2022

Mamelodi Sundowns players and co-coaches walked away big winners at the 2021/22 PSL Awards on Sunday following a treble winning season with the Tshwane giants.

Andile Jali walked away with three out of the five awards that he was nominated for at the Premier Soccer League awards ceremony. The Masandawana star was voted the 2021/22 MTN8 last man standing, Nedbank Cup player of the tournament and midfielder of the season

The midfield maestro has been pivotal to Bafana Ba Style who have lifted their fifth consecutive Premier Soccer League Trophy and played in all the domestic cup finals for The Brazilians making 22 appearances for his side.

Namibian international Peter Shalulile was named the 2021/22 DStv Premiership footballer of the Season, player’s player of the season and the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot Award for scoring the most league goals in this campaign.

Shalulile retained the footballer of the season and player’s player award that he won last season. The 28-year-old has produced 23 goals this season to help The Brazilians retain the Premier Soccer League title. 

Masandawana left back and Bafana Bafana international Lyle Lakay won defender of the season after showing sublime skills and strengths. Lakay showed dominance in the ability to convert set-pieces from all angles on the field and was crucial in Downs’ goalscoring momentum.

The orchestrators of Masandawana’s successful season, Sundowns co-coaches Manqoba Mngqithi and Rhulani Mokwena secured the DStv Premiership Coach of the Season award for their back breaking 2021/22 campaign.
