Hard work, patience and determination are what sets footballers apart these days. It is not easy being on the sidelines, watching your team go out and win all the trophies, whilst you are not able to contribute. One player who endured such a challenging time is Thapelo Morena. The speedster suffered a career-threatening injury in the clash against SuperSport United on 19 January 2020.
The Bafana international had to sit out the whole remainder of the season as he was nursing his way back to recovery. His return happened during the Bio-bubble but could not make an official return and had to wait on the sidelines.
The treble-winning season ended with Morena only playing fifteen league games, scoring two. The Randfontein born also had a good run in the CAF Champions League, scoring two goals and managed eight assists in all competitions.
His hard work, determination and patience paid off when he was named in the starting line up for the clash against Kaizer Chiefs. The 27-year-old took to the field and showed his class, and he played his socks off to help Masandawana to a three-nil victory over Amakhosi. He played for seventy -seven minutes after being out of action for more than nine months.
Get back to full recovery and do what we enjoy seeing you do. We know good days are coming.
