Coach Manqoba Mngqithi and Coach Rulani Mokwena have hit the ground running by conducting their first training session at Chloorkop. The two coaches will be focusing on the opening game of the season and the first task will be the MTN 8. Mamelodi Sundowns will take on Bloemfontein Celtics on the 18th of October at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
“The first session went well, the players really adapted well to the session, very smooth, flowing and efficient. I am looking forward to working with these talented and very professional players. We will be pushing very hard for the MTN 8 and we will see what we will get out of it,” said Coach Manqoba Mngqithi after the first training session, to view images from our first training session click HERE
Coach Rulani Mokwena joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 2011 as part of the Youth Development structures and made his move to the senior team in 2014. Coach Manqoba Mngqithi joined the Brazilians in 2014. Both coaches have been part of the most successful technical team in Bafana Bastyle history. Between the two of them, they have won more than ten trophies and were part of the CAF conquering team that won the Champions League and CAF Super Cup.
Coach Manqoba Mngqithi also added that “Working with Rulani is a blessing in disguise for me as I know the quality he brings into the club and I know what he offers. The future is bright, as he is a bold young coach, and we will support and guide him. With everyone’s support we know that we will deliver what needs to be delivered”.
This is not the first time Masandawana has had joint coaches at the helm. In the title-winning season of 2005/06 Neil Tovey and Miguel Gamondi were in charge and delivered a trophy.
After the announcement, both coaches said that they will do their best to make sure the winning culture at Masandawana is maintained and that the #YellowNation is happy.
Trophies won between Coach Manqoba Mngqithi and Coach Rulani Mokwena – Five League titles, Two Telkom Knockout, Two Nedbank Cup, CAF Champions League and the CAF Super Cup.

support YELLO I remain
The only department left 2b strengthened or bolstered is our slow central defence😢, we need 2 immediately replace ‘ soumahoro bangaly and wayne Arendse by 2 young competently vibrant, speedy, tall, clever and powereful in the air and ground’ defenders who’ll hit the ground running. Pls get 2 very best ‘speedy’ defenders my coaches🙏🏼🙌🏼👆🏼⭐🏆❤❤❤
A good test ,a cup game ,one mistake you are out. The only Cup we haven’t won for a very long time. We always bad starters and good finishers . We shall see how it goes this time around since we have all the armour.
@Bango…the reason we have not won this cup is fielding new players who have not yet mastered the Sundowns style of play as a result the team gets weakened and we get knocked out. My advice to the co-coaches is to use the tried & tested players we will definately bring it home and the new players can be used during league matches.KBY I remain.
True @ Jaw buda news players must be introduced bit by bit
My coaches plz be bold some of the under used
players & those player who at the wrong side of thirty must released
Eg Ngcobo, Pieterse
Langerman, Arendse
Mabunda Lafffor
& Meza
I say this with heavy heart these players have
worked their socks off
But there will be a problem if we are going
to have 40 players in a
Training sessions
We really behind the boys… I have a feeling of happiness with you masandawana amahle 💛💛💛💛💛👆👆👆👆👆we start with MTN8 to lift the cup
Hope we get all the cups on offer with Coach Manqoba Mnqithi at the helm to put the doubting Thomases to rest. Kabo Yellow.
I think we can start with the old players but i believe we need to change our strike force immediately! Shalulile, Kermit and Gift are seasoned campaigners! They do not need any introduction! This thing of striking with midfielders must come to an end!
We have two Capable Coaches, we believe in them, they must work together with a common goal, they must achieve it together as it has been entrusted on them . We would love to see the power of two, a joint supply, better days are coming, if we have seen a winning Sundowns under Pitso, then we are yet to see another Sundowns . We had Sundowns under Pitso who would boast that they know how to win a League and they would do it and make us supporters Happy, l am talking about a team that won things After the Popular CBD,without outright strikers. Unbelievable!!This time around the Coaches are starting by correcting that missing bite, We used to know Sundowns scoring 3 goals in first half and winning the games without pressure. Let’s see Sundowns this time around, the experience is there, the culture is there, the style is there, Coaches prove the doubters wrong. Just set this time alight, the results will speak for you.
Xola Mlambo has been released by Pirates and those who understands how Sundowns play from longtime will agree with me that he is one midfielder that suits our style of play! Unfortunately i think the team has recruited more than enough midfielders but i know for sure Rhulani is a fan of Xola Mlambo! He might give him a chance!
I can smell this cup already. All the way boys
We really behind the boys… I have a feeling of happiness with you masandawana amahle 💛💛💛💛💛👆👆👆👆👆we start with MTN8 to lift the cup
I just can’t wait to see the deadly combination of Shalulile and Romeo upfront. I love this team♥️♥️♥️👆👆👆
