Refilwe Tholakele Hat-Trick Seals Eighth Straight Win for Sundowns Ladies

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies extended their remarkable unbeaten run and secured their eighth consecutive win with a commanding 3–1 victory over TS Galaxy Queens in a top-of-the-table Hollywoodbets Super League clash at Kanyamazane Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Brazilians demonstrated their dominance, confidence, and composure throughout the contest, reaffirming why they remain the standard-bearers in South African women’s football.

Refilwe Tholakele was in sensational form, netting all three goals in the 22nd, 32nd, and 83rd minutes to complete a well-deserved hat-trick. TS Galaxy managed to pull one back in the 88th minute, but Banyana Ba Style maintained full control until the final whistle, sealing a crucial win in the race for the league title.

Defender Asanda Hadebe expressed her delight with the team’s performance and praised the collective effort that powered the victory.

“We are happy with the way we played, especially in the second half. We did exactly what we had prepared for in training, keeping our shape, applying pressure when needed, and staying composed under pressure. Every player gave their best, and that made a big difference. Our teamwork and communication stood out today, and we can be proud of how we handled a strong opponent.”

Midfielder Lehlogonolo Mashigo echoed similar sentiments, applauding her teammates’ determination and unity.

“It was not an easy game, but we fought as a team from start to finish. Our training sessions have been very intense and focused, and I am proud of how the girls translated that into such a disciplined performance. We knew TS Galaxy Queens would come hard at us, but we stayed united and confident in our approach. Getting three goals and three valuable points is a huge boost for us.

Boitumelo Rabale leads the scoring charts with 10 goals, followed closely by Refilwe Tholakele on eight. Melinda Kgadiete, Nthabiseng Majiya, and Isabella Ludwig have each netted seven times, while Nonhlanhla Mthandi has scored six. Noxolo Cesane has added five goals, with further contributions from Munashe Mugwara (two) and Lehlogonolo Mashigo, Tiisetso Makhubela, Bambanani Mbane, and Katleho Malebana, who each have one.

With this latest triumph, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies has now moved eight points clear at the top of the Hollywoodbets Super League table.

Up next is an away fixture against Tuks at the Tuks Main Stadium on Saturday, 11th October, with kickoff scheduled for 18:00.
