After missing over a month due to injuries, Rhoda Mulaudzi is relishing the opportunity of making up for lost time as Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies enter the latter stages of the Hollywoodbets Super League.
The highly experienced forward marked her return to football action as The Brazilians registered a 3-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies at the Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale on Sunday afternoon.
The Limpopo-born star was pleased with her goal-scoring return, “The last few weeks have been tough for me due to hamstring injuries. As a result, I missed several games which left me frustrated. Nevertheless, I am happy that I am back on the pitch and scoring on my return means so much to me. I am hoping to get back to full fitness to help the team fulfill our objectives which is retaining our titles.”
Rhoda’s return comes as a big boost to Coach Jerry Tshabalala’s team who have a busy schedule over the next few weeks. There are nine games left in this season’s Hollywoodbets Super League.
Coach Jerry’s troops will also be competing in the second edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League and are pitted in Group B against Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens, Egypt’s Wadi Degla, and Congo’s TP Mazembe. The continent’s premier women’s tournament is expected to run from 30 October 2022 and 13 November 2022.
Ahead of the busy schedule, Rhoda believes the African champions are ready to defend their continental crown.
“We are the champions of the continent for a reason. In the next one or two months, we have an opportunity to retain the titles we won last season. This will not be an easy task, but we are ready to leave it all on the pitch. We still have several league games to deal with and like Coach Jerry usually says, we will take them one step at a time,” Rhoda concluded.
Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are in action on Wednesday against 13th placed Vasco da Gama Ladies. The game will see Miche Minnies square off against her former side.
The right-footed attacker has been an instant hit at Chloorkop with 15 goals in her debut season.
Sundowns Ladies currently occupy the top spot of the Hollywoodbets Super League standings with 55 points with an incredible 86 goals scored, with only 11 conceded. The Brazilians also have a goal difference of +75.
The clash between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and Vasco da Gama Ladies will take place on Wednesday, 5 October 2022, at Parow Park in Cape Town. The kick-off time for the clash is 15h00.
