Super Sunday: Banyana Ba Style ready for crunch top-of-the-table clash against UWC

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will be aiming to continue their brilliant form in the Hollywoodbets Super League as they square off against the University of Western Cape (UWC) in a tasty top-of-the-table clash on Sunday.

The Brazilians have been in beast mode throughout October, which has seen the defending champions score 29 goals while conceding just once. That impressive stretch of form has seen Banyana Ba Style solidify themselves as the league’s best scorers, with 83 goals scored this season and an incredible goal difference of +68.

Miche Minnies, who scored four times in the last game against Coal City Wizards, expressed her excitement at the impressive conversion rate of the team this season.

“We have been winning games by wide margins and these goals serve as a morale booster for us ahead of Sunday’s clash. The goals we have scored have restored our confidence and we feel good heading into the match. We have been working hard in training to maintain our attacking form. Collectively, all we desire is three points and we are more determined than ever to achieve our objectives,” stated the right-footed attacker.

Coach Thinasonke Mbuli’s side has finished as runners-up in the Hollywoodbets Super League in the past two seasons to Banyana Ba Style and Minnies believes the Western Cape side is a tough team to play against.

“They have always been a very strong side and are well-coached. They also have very good players who can be dangerous, especially in attacking positions. Nevertheless, we are conditioned to focus on our strengths and rarely get distracted by the form of our opponents. This enables us to play the way we want to play,” Miche added.

Games between Sundowns Ladies and UWC have been regarded as one of the most exciting fixtures on the Hollywoodbets Super League calendar. Earlier this season, Downs registered a 3-0 victory courtesy of goals from Chuene Morifi, Andisiwe Mgcoyi and Refilwe Tholakele.

On the mood in the camp ahead of the big game on Sunday, Minnies states, “The feeling in the camp is that of readiness as everyone is calm. From the players and technical team to the coaches, everyone is working hard. Mentally and physically, we are ready for the trip to Cape Town and we cannot afford to drop any points.”

The match between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and UWC will take place at the UWC Stadium in Cape Town on Sunday, 22nd October, with kick-off set for 11h00.

It really is a crunch match…lose to UWC almost certainly we won’t be able to defend our crown…@malandela I think it’s the awkwardness of the kickoff time.
