Role -TikTok Content Creator Intern
I never imagined that my life would take the turn that it took when I joined the Mamelodi Sundowns Live Limitless Internship. Being a full-time content creator wasn’t something that I had envisioned, especially for one of the biggest brands in Africa. When I applied for the program took my chances so that my conscious can be at ease with the fact that I tried, little did I know it would be the beginning of one of the best experiences in my life.
First Stadium experience
Imagine your first time going to the stadium is with Mamelodi Sundowns, the most successful club in the South African PSL. Being a part of the process as everyone at the club prepared for game day was fulfilling especially because I got to see the work that the club puts into ensuring that match day is perfect for the staff, the players, and the yellow nation. The biggest highlight was beating Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 and the club announcing the return of Bongani Zungu in Style!
Being a Football Content Creator
I applied the skills I had from creating content for my account on TikTok throughout the internship. As a content creator, I’ve adapted to new surroundings and always be ready for anything. We have traveled to different provinces and I have had to be on standby for a lot of last-minute trips. One of the most important lessons has been discovering new things about myself and using the creative freedom I got from the club to express myself as a creative. I’ve grown in ways I would have never imagined.
I have had the privilege of working with the ladies team and the men’s team which has given me the opportunity to get to know both teams. Having my work showcased by the most successful club in the Premier Soccer League has been unreal and fulfilling because I’m able to keep the yellow nation entertained through my craft.
Another highlight I will forever cherish is the relationships I have built from this internship is the relationship with the four other interns. We learnt that we need each other regardless of us working in different departments. We’ve picked up that we need to co-exist, and we’re a team that has the same goal of which is contributing to the success of the club. Having natured relationships with strangers that turned into friends is something that I will treasure for a lifetime.
