The quest for the MTN 8 trophy starts this weekend for Mamelodi Sundowns, as they take on Bloemfontein Celtics. The WAFA WAFA competition has eluded Mamelodi Sundowns. One player who has tasted victory in this tournament is Mosa Lebusa as he was part of the winning Ajax Cape Town team in the 2015/16 season. The defender joined Masandawana in 2018.
“Ever since I joined the team, whenever we play the MTN 8, I know that the guys want to win this trophy. It has been a while since we last won it. It has been more than ten years and I think that we have been unlucky because we are so desperate to win it. We have to be calm and give our best,” said Lebusa.
In the 2019/20 season, the Bafana international player played thirty-seven games and scored two goals. One of his goals came in the opening game of last season’s edition of the MTN 8 against Siwelele.
“I have won the trophy and one thing about this competition is that it has a very short format, once you win the opening game, you are already in the semi-finals. With the quality that we have in the team once we get through the first round, who knows, we might win the cup. We are going to do our best to make sure that we fight and bring the cup home! It all starts this weekend in our clash against Bloemfontein Celtic,” concluded Lebusa.
Lebusa, our best central and left defender, this season is yours, prove to everyone that you deserve to be in the starting lineup for the whole season and help the team to win big, all the best.
I’m not expecting anything from our team in tomorrow’s encounter but it could b our dressrehearsal for next week’s fixture against Kaizer Chiefs. We r so unfortunate with MTN8 that I have given up on thinking that we will lift it one day.Even if we win or lose if we play attacking&entertaining game it will give us a clue as 2 where we will b this season.Go Brazilians go.
Give it your best guys. It’s the only that is missing in our office and we can make history if we win it.. All the best guys👆👆❤️
If Lebusa can use the same energy he used to get into the first team we can see the best of him, now we see some balls bouncing infront of him till he has to work hard marking. He has potential to become a good defender,But our defence needed Ru Shine Derik boy from Maritzburg. He is still young to learn Sundowns style of play.
Clueless Sundowns… tonight…
Rivaldo is going to cost Sundowns… Manqoba said they played very well…. what an insulating statement…and he is impressed… this was not a friendly game he talking nonsense
Not a bad performance today but my wish is to stop fielding Pitso’s team or favorites, Onyango should have came out and fixed that ball but he was just ball watching.
Sometimes lets keep Kekana on the bench we’ve got too much guys on mieldfield,Kby forever.
Why fix if its not broken? We seem not to learn from our previous mistakes and I have been saying intoducing new players who know nothing about Sundowns style of plays weakens the team I am so disappointed.
@Muzi… at least those Pitso’s favourites made us smile and by the looks of things Pitso will be surely missed by many
Hardluck boyz. We were just unlucky today. It’s still going to take some time to blend in the new players.
@Dalom… while still blending those new players we will be losing games. Those new players must be introduced gradually otherwise our next game with those zoo monkeys will be a disaster
