We Work For Each Other On The Pitch And That Helps Us – Neo Maema

Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder Neo Maema recently made his way back into the matchday squad after an injury lay-off and has already shown glimpses of his scintillating best in his appearances off the bench.

Speaking ahead of the upcoming DStv Premiership clash against Maritzburg United, “Billy” reflected on the team’s performances since they returned to action in early February:

“I believe we have started the year very well and we are taking each game as it comes to complete this cycle of games in the league. It’s never easy to play Maritzburg away but we have the team that is capable of getting maximum points over the weekend.”

Masandawana have enjoyed a successful return in 2022, winning 4 and drawing 3 games that the team have been involved in so far. Maema took the time to reflect on the level of detail that goes into preparation for matches from the players and the technical team:

“The coaches and the rest of the technical team always do their ultimate best to ensure that we are prepared thoroughly to face any opposition. We work for each other on the pitch and that helps us to break down opposition. We will just apply ourselves accordingly and put up a good fight to come back home victorious.”

Downs are currently sitting on 51 points at the top of the DStv Premiership table and with the end of the season fast approaching, Neo has his sights on lifting all the silverware that is available:

“It would be a dream come true for me and the thought of it makes it even sweeter and we will fight until the end because we are a team with its own ambitions so every game is important; to win the title and the rest of the remaining games.”

Mamelodi Sundowns do battle with Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday evening in DStv Premiership action. The match will kick off at 19H30 and will be broadcast live on SuperSport Channel 202.
