COACH RULANI REVELS IN DELIGHT AFTER CAFCL TRIUMPH

Mamelodi Sundowns are beaming in pride after collecting maximum points and topping the Group A table when they conquered FC Nouadhibou 3-0 in the CAF Champions League on Sunday afternoon at Loftus Versfeld. Coach Rulani Mokwena looked back on the encounter.

“Congratulations to the club. I think the turnout of the supporters was amazing. It was great to see them happy and support the team in the manner that they did. Congratulations to the players too, who played and represented the club very well,” Coach Rulani stated.

When asked whether the team is pressured to win the tournament after winning the African Football League title, coach Rulani said that they don’t have pressure, however, they have standards they have set for themselves regarding the tournament and intend on reaching them. He stated: “pressure is built from expectation and expectation comes as a result of being able to have shown that you have the capacity to do it. The only way to deal with that is by preparation and working very hard to ensure that the team improves and gets better. We pay attention to every small detail and we go game by game.”

“The most important thing for us is we know what the standard is, which is not what everyone sees which is the 90 minutes. What happens behind that is the hours of preparation. There is certain a standard that we have set for ourselves and there is no compromise on that. It was very important that when we had the entire group coming back together for the first time we had the discussion about that. I believe that we have gotten to where we are now because of the work that we do and the attention to detail that we give,” he continued.

The Masandawana head coach concluded by saying that the success of team also stems from respecting the opponent and not undermining them, which allows them to work harder.

“We are trying to set specific targets and work on those targets day by day and keep our feet firmly on the ground and not get too far ahead of ourselves because that only leads to disaster,” he concluded.

Before heading to the Democratic Republic of Congo for their second match in the CAFCL group stages against TP Mazembe, Bafana Ba Style will resume their domestic action against Supersport United in the Tshwane derby on Wednesday evening.

Haybo Masandawana where r u in the comments section?Congratulations to everyone associated with Sundowns.Special mention to the coach and ur technical team we tend to highlight match winners like scorers and players who provide assists and forget ppl who r working behind the scenes. All the returnees Morena,Shalulile, Ribeiro,Mbule, and to some extent fringe players like Nkosi,Mashego and Maema.I so wish the technical team should consider doing re-inforcement upfront we were very thin when Ribeiro and Shalulile were nursing injuries. But all in all Sundowns is a huge monster when it comes to domination and we r the most hated team on the continent.Hey guys its nice to be a Sundowns supporter because u r guaranteed happiness,Koboyelo I remain.

    Hi Mfana,
Webbie is posting these articles very late most of the times. I was at the stadium 🏟️ again on Sunday to give the boyz some extra support. The weather conditions were so unbearable once again, and I wonder why Sundowns doesn’t move the game times to 5 or something like that. Shalulile and Ribiero are just pure class, they made the goals they scored look so simple
