The Masandawana Ladies team will be going out to defend their trophy this weekend as the SAFA National Women’s league kicks off. The ladies team won the inaugural competition and broke many records along the way, not losing a single game on their way to lifting the trophy. The ladies, led by Coach Jerry Tshabalala, will play their opening game on Saturday afternoon against Golden Ladies and the game will be played at the Groenkloof Stadium, which will be the new home ground this season.
The DStv Diski Challenge REwired has been back for two matchdays and the Mamelodi Sundowns Diski boys have started like a house on fire, playing two games and registering two wins against Bloemfontein Celtic and Swallows FC reserve sides. Up next, a clash against Baroka FC Reserves on Sunday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. Masandawana’s junior side are currently sitting in pole position with six points in the inland stream. The last time the two sides met was on the opening day of the season with The Brazilians making a statement with a 3-0 victory. Amakhosi are currently sitting in position eleven with twenty-five points and will be licking their wounds after going down to Cape Town City midweek. Masandawana will be looking to continue their record-breaking streak after claiming a tough away draw at AmaZulu midweek.
