“It will be very important to lift the trophy with a very good win.” – Sphelele Mkhulise

Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on Royal AM this Saturday at the Chatsworth Stadium.

The Brazilians suffered their biggest defeat this season against Stellenbosch in their last home game at TUKS Stadium last Saturday. Stellies beat the home team 3-0 on the day as Masandawana recorded their third loss of the season after winning 18 games and drawing 8. Downs midfielder Sphelele Mkhulise revealed his and the teams disappointment of their recent performance:

“We are really disappointed as a team to only win one game out of the three this month. We want to win against Royal AM because it’s the only game that we’re going to play before the [Nedbank] final.”

“Preparations are going well. We’re focused on the game because we want to win and put in a very good performance for our supporters and we will celebrate afterwards. It’s important to lift the trophy with a very good win and performance.”

The Tshwane giants are hoping to have the support of the Yellow Nation on the final day of the DStv Premiership campaign in KwaZulu-Natal. Masandawana will be crowned Champions of South African football after successfully defending their Championship title, Mkhulise expressed the desire to celebrate with the Yellow Nation.

“We would really appreciate the Masandawana family to come in numbers so that we can celebrate together because this title is theirs as our 12th man because they’ve been with us throughout the season. If there’s one thing that I will never doubt, it’s the love and support from Masandawana.”
