Mamelodi Sundowns are at home this weekend and they will be looking to turn things around when they play hosts to KwaZulu-Natal side, Richard Bay FC, on Saturday night at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Bafana Ba Style came from a 1-0 loss in their midweek fixture against Lamontville Golden Arrows. With the result that didn’t favour them, they will look to get back to winning ways at the weekend, against a Richards Bay side that has been in impressive form.
The last time the two sides met was in August when Masandawana emerged victorious in a crunch MTN8 quarterfinal. Having walked away with a positive result in their previous meeting, the Pretoria-based side will look to replicate the results. Speaking to Defender, Aubrey Modiba, he previewed the weekend fixture against the Natal Rich Boys.
“Every game is difficult, and we have seen how well most teams have been doing, including Richards Bay. They managed to collect three points in their last match, which shows that they really want to do well in the league. We played them before this season, in the MTN8, but it’s now a different ball game because we’ll now be playing a league game,” the Bafana Bafana international stated.
Modiba also touched on the readiness of the team against Richards Bay, who are confident following their victory against Magesi FC during the week. Modiba said they anticipate a difficult opponent, but they will be ready to take them on as they are hoping to collect all points on offer.
“I think we are ready for this game. Obviously, coming from a loss, we are disappointed. We didn’t want to drop points, and it’s unfortunate, but going into this game, we are hopeful that we can collect maximum points.”
“They are a very good team with a lot of youngsters, especially from the DStv Diski Challenge. You can see they are very hungry. We will need to look out for a player like Tlakusani Mthethwa, who has been collecting man-of-the-match accolades. They also have a strong attack, which we are ready for,” the defender said.
Mamelodi Sundowns will host Richards Bay on Saturday night at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. Kick-off has been scheduled for 20H00, live on SuperSport TV.
