Sundowns Ladies Bounce Back in Style with 6–0 Rout Over City Lads

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies delivered a dominant performance to emphatically return to winning ways, defeating City Lads 6–0 at Isaac Wolfson Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

The Brazilians, eager to respond after their goalless draw against Copperbelt Ladies, came out firing and wasted no time in asserting their authority.

Nthabiseng Majiya was the star of the show, netting an incredible four goals in the 11th, 27th, 34th, and 74th minutes, showcasing her sharpness and lethal finishing inside the box.

Tiisetso Makhubela added her name to the scoresheet with a powerful strike just before halftime in the 44th minute, while Boitumelo Rabale slotted home the sixth goal just after the restart in the 47th minute to cap off a commanding team display.

Speaking after the match, midfielder Oratile Mokwena praised the team’s performance and reflected on the improvements made since their previous outing:

We performed very well; it was a much-needed response after the draw last time out. We worked on finishing off the chances we created in training, and I am impressed with how we executed our game plan today. Away games are not easy, so for us to control the match like we did and score six goals shows the quality and determination of this team. I am proud of how we bounced back, and it gives us good momentum going forward.

Kholosa Biyana also expressed her satisfaction with the team’s display and the collective effort shown throughout the match:

As a team, we did great—every player did a fantastic job from start to finish. We were all switched on and motivated to get the win, especially after the frustration of the last game. We knew we had to bounce back, and we did it in style. I am also very happy with the clean sheet—it’s something we take pride in as a team. We are now looking forward to the next game with confidence and belief.

With this emphatic win, Sundowns Ladies maintain their unbeaten start to the 2025 Hollywoodbets Super League season and continue to show why they are considered one of the top contenders for the title. Remarkably, they have yet to concede a goal in their first six games, underlining their exceptional defensive solidity. The return to goal-scoring form will also serve as a major boost ahead of their upcoming fixtures.

Up next for Banyana Ba Style is a clash against the University of Fort Hare on May 4th, 2025, with kick-off set for 11:00 at TUT Stadium.
