Mamelodi Sundowns are gearing up to face fierce rivals Orlando Pirates in an Absa Premiership clash at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Brazilians come into the clash fresh off a well-earned 2-1 victory against Algerian giants USM Alger in the CAF Champions League. The win saw Downs qualify for the knockout stages with two games to spare in group C.
The Buccaneers head into the clash well-rested after not having a game on the weekend. Their most recent league outing saw them defeat Polokwane City 4-1 with Gabadinho Mhango scoring a hat-trick.
Downs will be looking to bring the goals to the fixture with the last two matches between these two sides ending 0-0 after extremely tightly contested affairs.
Sundowns head into the tie sitting in second place on the Absa Premiership log, eight points ahead of Wednesday’s opponents who sit in sixth after 16 matches played.
Head Coach Pitso Mosimane will be facing newly-appointed Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer for the first time. The German coach has won two games and drawn one game since he took over.
Mamelodi Sundowns travel to Orlando Stadium on Wednesday to take on Orlando Pirates. Kick off is at 19:30.
Sundowns will teach Sea robbers a lesson
I think we can win this 1. We need to be ruthless upfront. In the upset of Mshishi it’s time for Maboe to raise his hand. 2nd half we introduce Affonso. Their defenders can’t deal with earial balls. Sundowns 3 – Pirates 1
I agree with being aggressive and moving the ball quick forward with movements to find spaces upfront. I hope for the best in the evening.
The last two meetings we were bit cagey, & so they were, hence 0-0 scorelines. Both teams were scared to lose. I also wish we could be more on the attack tonight, defensively they are not that solid yet. All the best to the boys, we need those 3 points..
Go and beat them kabo yeeeeelow
The days of pinning our hopes on the following players are gone now:Kekana,Langerman,Ngcongca and Mabunda. We need start afresh building Downs serious and by the looks of things Pitso will always put them ahead of others.
We need to sign a playmaker like Mlambo whose contract is coming to an end this season at Pirates, they say miracles do happens in football but I don’t see us winning the league this season even the Champs league it will be a mammoth task.
Yes we hit the post twice but we didn’t pitch up tonite. These things happen in football.my worry is that We lost to a team that defend the way pirates defended and with that kind of a keeper.
I Guess we must try fight for the second Spot so that we qualify for Champions League and I do feel we need to sign a prolific finisher because we are terrible in the last third. We never pitched up , if you honestly look at our previous games even the ones we win we miss too many chances something needs to be done about this urgently
We keep missing easy goals week in and week out I wonder if the technical team is dealing with this issue , my under 12 Teams has a better conversion rate its really disappointing.
Hard luck Masandawa, we have another tough fixture this weekend
Hade madawana, it was not our night, let’s regroup & win the next one, still a long way ahead
