Kholosa Biyana previews crunch clash against JVW FC

Back-to-back 6-0 wins against City Lads Ladies and Durban Ladies means Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will be in high spirits when they square off against JVW FC this Saturday at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The rampant Brazilians are currently the leading scorers in the Hollywoodbets Super League with 66 goals and have won 18 games after 22 played. The Blue Diamonds on the other hand are placed third on the log with 16 wins in 24 games.

Kholosa ‘Fox’ Biyana believes that games against JVW are tough fixtures and cannot be taken for granted. She said, “They are always difficult opponents to play against and as you can see, they are in the title race. They have been quite consistent this season and we know this will be a very tough game. Nevertheless, these are the games for which we are conditioned and we are eagerly looking forward to the clash on Saturday.”

Despite scoring 13 goals in three games since the COSAFA triumph, Biyana insists there is still room for improvement.
“We have not been as consistent as we want to be because we know our standards at this club are high. Thankfully, we have many games coming up and we are hoping to build on this winning momentum, rhythm and consistency. We are taking things one step at a time and hopefully, we can get back to our unstoppable form. The 6-0 victories we have recorded in the last two games are simply a starting point,” Kholosa added.

In recent times, games between both sides have been breathtaking. Earlier this season, Banyana Ba Style prevailed 3-2 in a thrilling match, with Boitumelo Rabale netting a brace and Melinda Kgadiete finding the back of the net. Last season, Downs clinched a 4-2 victory at home and registered a 2-0 victory on away soil. The season before that, both sides played out to a 2-2 draw away and the Brazilians secured the home fixture with a 2-1 scoreline.

The Fox concluded by stating, “The most important thing is to give our best to secure three points. We are fully aware that it will not be an easy fixture, but we are fully prepared to give our best in front of our home supporters.”

The massive clash between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and JVW FC is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 14th, at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, with kick-off set for 15h00.
