Six goals spree continues as Banyana Ba Style defeats JVW in style

IesdiediMamelodi Sundowns Ladies extended their ruthless goal-scoring streak with a third successive six-goal performance in their Hollywoodbets Super League clash against JVW FC at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.

Banyana Ba Style secured a commanding 6-1 victory over the Blue Diamonds, further solidifying their flawless record in October with a total of 18 goals scored during the month. This loss marked JVW’s first defeat in 15 games.

Goals from Boitumelo Rabale and Karabo Makhurubetshi put Sundowns Ladies in control as the reigning champions ended the first half with a 2-goal lead.

After the restart, Rabale netted her second following a fine team move, while Lehlogonolo Mashigo, Lebohang Ramalepe and Miche Minnies all scored to wrap up another comprehensive attacking performance in front of the goal.

Lehlogonolo, who scored her first goal of the season, expressed her excitement following the team’s recent incredible goal-scoring exploits. She stated, “I am so happy for the team and we must continue to play like this in subsequent games. The team spirit in the camp is high and everyone is clicking at the right time. I know we have CAF matches coming up and there will be lots of games to play. We are soldiers and are built for moments like this. On a personal note, it was good to get back on the scoresheet and I am hoping this run of form continues for me and the team as a whole.”

Makhurubetshi, who also registered her first strike of the campaign, was proud of her team’s tactical approach to the game. She said, “Overall, I am happy with the performance of the team from the blast of the opening whistle. We all knew what we wanted and three points were on our minds. We also felt it was necessary to make our supporters happy and we did that. There is a lot at stake for us and we know that there is no room for error. I am also happy with the goal I scored because it is rare for us as defenders to find the back of the net. Although I scored a good goal, I believe the goal was for the team.”

Thanks to her magnificent brace, the red-hot Boitumelo Rabale was deservedly named Player of the Match. Boitumelo’s double takes her tally for the season to 18 goals as she leads the Sundowns Ladies’ scoring chart. Melinda Kgadiete has scored 15 times, while Andisiwe Mgcoyi has 7 goals to her name. Lebohang Ramalepe has now scored 6 times, the same as Chuene Morifi.

The Brazilians will be aiming to continue their impressive run of form as they face relegation-threatened Coal City Wizards on Wednesday, October 25th, at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, with kick-off set for 15h00.
