Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are back in CAF Women’s Champions League action on Wednesday as they face Ethiopia’s CBE in a decisive Group B clash. The Brazilians have spent the last few days strategising how to get back to winning ways, according to Karabo Dhlamini.
“I think we learned many lessons from the game. One of them was to convert our chances because a team can get one chance and win the game, so we need to improve our finishing. As a team, we are looking forward to our next game because we don’t let a loss define us. We know what we are capable of, and we are going to build on that in our next game.”
Although CBE lost their Group B opener to Nigeria’s Edo Queens 3-0, Dhlamini remains cautious and determined, stating, “We know they lost their last game, and they might come into this fixture with the same belief of redeeming themselves. But we are not going to allow them to dictate the game for us. We will do our best to build on converting our chances, as that is what we are used to doing. The focus now is on us, not on what other teams are doing.”
Sedilame Bosija also echoed the need to convert chances, saying, “We have to be clinical in front of goal. Creating chances is one thing, but converting them is what matters in these crucial games. We are working hard to sharpen our finishing, and we know that every goal counts in a tournament like this. Our mindset on Wednesday is to take control, keep up the intensity and play our game without letting our opponent dictate the pace.”
The goalkeeper also highlighted the high stakes of the upcoming match, emphasising the “win or go home” mentality. She said, “At this stage, it’s all or nothing. We know we have to give everything on the pitch because one slip could mean the end of our journey. We are fully focused and ready to put it all on the line for this game. Every player knows the importance of this match, and we are committed to doing whatever it takes to secure the win.”
The match between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and CBE FC will take place on Wednesday, November 13th, at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca. The time for kick-off is 15H00 (16:00 CAT).
