Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will be looking to make a bold statement on Sunday when they face neighbours Tshwane University of Technology in the Tshwane derby. The Ladies have won all their games in this season’s return of the National Women’s League and are eager to continue their great start to the season in their fourth game when they meet their cross-town rivals on Sunday afternoon.
Coach Jerry Tshabalala shared his anticipation ahead of the clash and said, “It’s always been a tough game for both teams, it’s always produced good football and lots of goals. [It’s] one of the biggest derbies in South African Women’s football since the inception of SASOL League and till today even during the SAFA NWSL.”
Masandawana met with TUT in the first year of the introduction of the women’s league in 2019 and both teams were unsuccessful in collecting maximum points as the game ended in a goalless draw. An action-packed encounter is expected as both teams are known for displaying excellent competition as bragging rights are at stake.
“We as Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, we know what’s at stake for us and we have prepared thoroughly, we are going out for maximum points and we are going to dish out the best football for people to watch come Sunday.”, said Coach Tshabalala on what to expect from the current reigning champions of the league.
Mamelodi Sundowns play against TUT on Sunday at TUT Stadium, kick-off is 15h00. The game will be broadcast on SABC 1.
